January 2-4, 2022 - Boule For Love

Pretty fun title, eh? Anyway, some stuff:

Ramen

Tonkotsu black and red from Ramen Utsuke: Hakata style pork broth ramen finished with a drizzle of black garlic oil and spicy oil. Includes Pork Chashu, Bean Sprouts, Kikurage Mushrooms, (1/2)Egg, and Green Onion. I think they forgot my egg, though, and they were out of mushrooms. They were out of a bunch of stuff. Oh well, it was still delish. We also got spicy tuna jalapeno poppers. I love em.

Salad

Doesn't this look pretty gross? Sprouts, little radishes, smoked salmon, that sauce I put on the salad on NYE. Salt and pepper. Pretty good.

Boule

Woke up my last day of break with a hankering for homemade bread so I made this. A bread critic might say it has some flaws, but to me, it's enough. I think the kitchen was too cold during the first rise so it didn't rise so good. During the second rise I put it on top of the oven and I think that helped. Tastes great.

Queso Mac n Cheese

We have so much queso and ran out of chips so I heated it up and put it on noodles. A pretty smart move I think, but it is so rich I couldn't finish my bowl. Also maybe not the dish for me because I actually don't love queso that much. I like it on chips because I can control how much I get in each bite so that it's more chip than queso. Can't really do that here. I mean, I like it, but I'm not, like, desperate to eat it again. I'll still eat the leftovers, of course. Also this is kind of spicy for me. Not for others probably. It's not that spicy but it's enough to slow me down.

Toast

Incredible, right? Homemade bread, drizzled in olive oil, heat in pan. Crispy fried egg. Delish. I learned to do the bread that way from instagram. They're obsessed with that over there.

"Pita"

Not pita because they didn't have any at the store. I got naan instead. Janty made shredded chicken in the instant pot. The hummus he made a few days ago and the pickled turnips he made months ago. Good stuff good stuff. I swam today and ate this when I got home and felt like a million bucks.

Berry Drink

I got this on the way home from the pool at a fancy grocery store. Tastes like danimals I think. Or something else I used to eat. Pretty good. After a while it started tasting kind of powdery but those first few sips whew they were something else. I split with Janty. I thought I had gotten him a different flavor but I either lost the bottle or put it back while I was at the store. Oopsie.
