December 29, 2021 - Fancy Sandwich, Fancy Drinks

Lunch: Coppola's Deli

I went to see Kelsey in Richmond and we picked up matching Industrial Lunches: traditional Italian hero with Genoa salami, mortadella, capicola ham, provolone cheese, onions, hot & sweet peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, oil, and vinegar. We both got on baguette with potato salad and it comes with a cookie. Winnie was not actually as close to the sandwich as she looks in this pic. Delish! I love a multi-meats sandwich and fun peppers and the cookie was so soft.

Also we went to a capital one cafe and got matching fall spice cold brews (I think it was called something like that? I don't remember). I had never heard of a capital one cafe before but it's where you get 50% off if you pay with a capital one card. I don't have one of those so Kelsey treated thanks Kelsey.

Dinner: JGBG

I was home for dinner so Janty and I went to JBGB. We got 2 drinks each.

Blue drink is Jupiter of the Monkey: ume Japanese whiskey, lychee, pandan, Q mixers club soda. I was so excited about this drink, but it tasted kind of...flat? Hard to describe. Idk. Janty's drink this round was Jareth's cristal ball: tequila dahlia, ginger, spiced pear, lemon, pickled tomato brine. This is good I got it last time. Doesn't taste like tomato or pickles at all just tastes fall-y.

Dinner was bolognese for me, cheeseburger for Janty. I usually don't like to get bolognese at a restaurant even though I love it because it's like I can make that at home, but since this restaurant is attached to a butcher they have really good meat. Also I was just in the mood. It was delish. Kind of tasted like sweet potato.

My drink this round was arroz by any other name: Hamilton 87 white 'stache rum, rice and corn horchata. So good. I bet it would taste good warm, too. This could be a go-to for me. Janty got a good 4 u: barr hill gin, giffard orgeat, zoranj anime liqueur, earl grey tea, ube. The description of this drink was "sweet tart, boba tea, wannabe instagram famous." Tasted like a melted popsicle. I liked mine better.

Also for an app we got brussels sprout salad that was really good but I didn't take a picture. Also on my menu it was called "brussels sprouts salad" and on Janty's it was just called "brussels sprouts." Everything else on the menu was the same.
