Today I had a filing that was due in Arlington so my schedule was all messed up and I ended up being really hungry and anxious at the end of the day. A good reminder to pack snacks.

I had a banana w peanut butter at like 6:30, then went to the office.

Lunch: Turkey & Gruyere Croissant

From Mah-Ze-Dahr by the Arlington court. Sooo good. Their croissants are really buttery. Gets all over my hand. They say they have Oprah's favorite scones. I had this and a cold brew around 11 and I think that was a big contributor to my bad feeling the rest of the day. Work, too, but physically I think the cold brew did not help.

Snack: Pop tart

I stayed at the DC office because I was going to go to intern happy hour at 6 in DC but around 4 I started to get soooo antsy so I went for a walk to look for something to eat. But since it was 4 all the coffee shop type places were closed and I couldn't find anything that wasn't either full-blown sit-down restaurant or a juice bar, so I went to CVS. By this time I sort of just had the stress can't-help-its so nothing sounded good but I got a box of pop tarts. This did not really make me feel better. I think I should have gotten a meat and cheese roll-up or like, something with nutrients, but I didn't see any.

Dinner: Spaghetti

I had pretty much decided to eat an egg for dinner because I thought Janty wasn't going to be home, but then I walked in the door and he was making spaghetti sauce! This reallyyy hit the spot. Perfect, warm, comforting. I think if we had Italian restaurant-style side salad it would have been really really wow incredible, but there were at least lots of veggies in the sauce so that was good. This is a time when I think, ok living with someone who loves you is good.

Dessert: Cake

I felt so much better after being home and showering and eating spaghetti it was really something. Also I walked home from the train station (farther than I thought) so I think moving helped, too. But anyway, by dessert time I was like, doing pretty good. I made this cake over the weekend with my leftover frosting from Claire's cake. Just a one-layer box chocolate guy. The frosting tastes better cold and I think the chocolate makes it less over the top sweet. Had with tea.

Here's some other stuff I don't think I blogged about recently:

Peach Blackberry Sundae

From the peach blackberry festival at Weber's cider mill orchard. Boy oh boy was this good. We ate this first thing in the morning which did make it a little bit sickening but me and Claire shared a small so I didn't really feel that sick. But if I had anything else in my stomach before eating this, hoooooweeee I would probably eat a lot more

Yogurt & Blackberries

Look how huge these blackberries are. It was mixed berry yogurt and when I mixed it all up the blackberries crumbled into the yogurt very nicely.

Coconut tofu

I used this recipe that I found by googling "firm tofu coconut milk what do I make" https://simplybakings.com/filipino-tofu-in-coconut-milk/

We had most of a can of coconut cream from when Janty made chili last week so I figured tofu would probably be a good way to use it up, plus I had some tofu I keep forgetting to cook. It worked out perfect because I also had green beans that I was planning to just use no matter what the recipe called for but this recipe called for string beans! which I just googled and learned is the same thing as green beans. I wasn't sure before but I figured they were at least similar. Noted. There's rice under there, too.

Tomato and Cottage Cheese

Great looking tomato, right? I did a very good amount of salt and pepper I think.

Lemon from Janty's Tree

The lemon on the tree in our kitchen fell off a couple weeks ago and I was going to be so sad if we didn't do anything with it! Janty made us drinks with the lemon juice, some lemon lime seltzer, and vodka. It was very tasty. We originally wanted gin but turns out we're out. Would've been good, though. It's a meyer lemon. We have a couple more starting to grow now.

Ok, that's all. I also have been eating some cheese bread I bought at the orchard. I like it. I made a sandwich yesterday where I toasted the bread but it got a little burnt so I put the burnt side facing in, then mozzarella, olive oil, tomato, salt and pepper. Tasted good!
